Brilliant World Book Day pictures in Bury

Saturday 9th Mar 2024

St Stephen's CE Primary School on Colville Drive turned the event into "Book Week" through a series of exciting activities such as a reading cafe open to the community and a "vocabulary parade".

The vocabulary event involved word games that sparked wit and storytelling sessions.

Each of the children were invited to parade on the stage and showcase the efforts gone into making their outfits before receiving cheers.

The pupils also read their favourite stories to residents at Epworth Grange residential home.

The children who attended were the school's "junior librarians" who are responsible for championing a love of reading.

One of the residents said it "made his day" and that it also marked his 90th.

Another resident said that she "loved having the children over".

One of the junior librarians said: "I loved sharing my favourite book with them and I think they really enjoyed the story."

Mrs Byers, a member of staff who accompanied the children, added: "What an amazing experience, the children were amazing, so polite and loved reading their books and chatting to the residents."
