New Chapter, New Logo

Monday 27th Nov 2023

This week marks the next exciting stage for us at St Stephen's CE Primary School. On Friday 1st December, we officially become part of The Sycamore Church of England Trust family of schools.

To mark this next chapter, we are really excited to be able to share our new logo with you. St Stephen's has had the same logo for many years and while we know that it is loved by many of the community, we wanted a new image to match the new journey that our school is on.

Our new logo takes the cross surrounded by a crown of people at its main symbol. We’ve chosen this for several reasons:

• The cross represents the sacrificial love which we have received and of which we are called to bring to the world: It depicts our Bible verse: ‘Love one another, as I have loved you.’ John 13:34.

• The crown represents St Stephen, the first Christian martyr. A crown can be referred to as a ‘martyr’s crown’ to show those who suffered for their faith, those who dies for Christ, or those who were committed to finishing their race of faith regardless of the difficulties they encountered in this life.

• The people holding hands represented our people, our community and our shared vision of ‘Learning, loving and growing, together as God’s children’.

• The halo represents our family of school in The Sycamore Trust. If you look at the other school logos, they each have a halo. This brings us all together with the same shared mission and vision: ‘Grow together, learn forever’.

From Friday 1st December you will start to see us using this logo on our school communication and website.

I know you may wonder if there is an expectation to purchase new uniform… The answer is no. There is no expectation to purchase new uniform, and we encourage you to continue to wear our old logo until it is time for you to purchase new uniform, which is unlikely mid year and may be September 2024.

I will be spending some time this week talking to all the children about our next chapter and giving them opportunity to ask any questions they may have.
