Welcome to Year 3

Class Teacher: Miss Ramzan

Things to Remember

Please make sure your child has a water bottle in school everyday and has a warm, waterproof coat.

Reading books and reading records should be brought into school daily.

Curriculum

For curriculum information, please see the 'Curriculum Overview' at the bottom of this page.

Home Learning

Children will receive home learning on a Friday and this should be completed and returned to school the following Wednesday.

Spellings: New spellings are taught on Friday and displayed in the classroom throughout the week. A copy of the word list is given out each Friday for children to practise at home. Children are then tested the following Friday.

Reading books: Your child's reading books will be changed every Thursday.

Your child will get a book to bring home which will match their reading ability. Your child may also bring home a reading for pleasure book, from one of our school libraries. We ask parents to sign reading records to share the child’s reading with us, plus any celebrations or concerns you may also want to share.

Children are expected to read at least 3 times in a week. If your child finishes their books before the change day, we would like you to encourage them to read it again. This will help them to develop fluency and prosody. However, should it need changing please encourage your child to let their teachers know, in class.

For some useful links to support your child's learning at home, see our Home Learning page here.
