Please make sure your child has a water bottle in school everyday and has a warm, waterproof coat.
Reading books and reading records should be brought into school daily.
For curriculum information, please see the 'Curriculum Overview' at the bottom of this page.
Children will receive home learning on a Friday and this should be completed and returned to school the following Wednesday.
Spellings: The spellings are Year 2 spelling patterns and Year 2 common exception words, which the children should be able to spell by the end of Year 2. These spellings are stuck into their reading diaries each week and are also set on Spelling Shed, where they can practise online. Log-in details for Spelling Shed can be found in your child’s reading diary. They will be given on a Friday and children will have their spelling quiz the following Wednesday.
Reading books: Each week, children will bring home two decodable reading books that are carefully selected at their reading level. These books are designed to help them read fluently and understand what they are reading. Please ensure that your child brings their books to school every day, as this allows them to read with adults at school, ensuring they are on the correct book band and being appropriately challenged. Books are changed every Thursday, and we encourage children to read at least three times each week. Re-reading the books is also recommended to help develop their fluency and confidence. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s reading, please speak to their class teacher.
